Ethics

In Finland, everyone has the right to adequate social and health services, as enshrined in the Constitution. The welfare regions are responsible for organizing the services. The Act on the Status and Rights of Social Welfare Clients defines procedures in client work and data protection issues. Healthcare services are regulated by the Healthcare Act.

Respect and dignity of people are the basis of everything in the social and health sector. Equal, equal treatment. The client is encountered individually, flexibly and multidisciplinary, always acting in terms of the client's interests. The client has the freedom of choice and the right to decide on their own lives and well -being. Working always requires the clients's consent, taking into account privacy.

Interaction skills are important, building trust. Between the employee and the client as well as employees. In good interaction, reciprocity is central. The clients must feel heard and understood. The goal would be to be able to work together, to go towards a common goal. The cultural and religious background must be taken into account. An interpreter or interpretation should be used as needed.

Vulnerable people must be identified and guided to help. Anyone in a vulnerable position can be anyone. Because of clients age, background, life situation. The client may also belong to several minorities at the same time. Professionals should be aware of the accessible obstacles to the wounded in terms of access to services.
